Knitty Surprises

1. Fun for femmes.

2. File Under: Why do people dress babies like mini-adults? Can't they just be babies? Yucky. Without the "cups," mayyyyyybe, but the halter is still kinda icky.

3. Must make. Love the bright whimsical colors!

I don't think the baby halter is icky, it doesn't look like a grown-up sweater to me. (But generally I agree that babies/kids should be dressed like babies/kids. For example, I can't stand seeing little girls in bikinis.) I like the cozies too, and have been meaning to make a felted tea cozy for months now.

Agreed. I'm not crazy about knit halter tops anyway. On kids or adults.

Yep. Halters on anyone without boobs are totally unnecessary. Same with tube tops and string bikinis!

How hot does it have to be for you to put your baby in that, anyway? What ever happened to those idyllic times where you just let them run around in a diaper? I agree that a baby halter is just a bit creepy.

Regarding the halter, I'd go with a little creepy. Too sexual for a baby, probably too sexual for a three year old. Which leads to the question of clothing and gender stereotyping. Peach Pit LOVES pink. I just called my mom to verify that pink did not have such a magnetic effect on me at her age.

Interesting. I can't even get through to Knitty at the moment. I wonder what that means?

Oooh, I covet that cozy! As for the baby halter - for some reason, it made me think of that Buffy episode where she says "Oh, I've patrolled in this halter many times", only the baby would say "I've nursed in this halter many times" and in the pause, we'd all realize how wrong it was to put halter tops on babies. And then perhaps we'd get the baby an agent.
