As someone who also just made a pair of socks that I was totally bored by, I have to say that I LOVE your gray socks! They look super cozy and I love that they're knee socks. Sorry the tops are annoying--I second the elastic comment but also, try casting off (or on, depending on whether you knit up or down) with a bigger needle size than you use for the main sock.
I also love your elephant finger puppet--reminds me of some I had as a kid.
